Go Beyond “5 Wishes” in this Comprehensive Five-week Workshop

The Gift of Time program will encourage you to think about how to plan and communicate your end of life wishes to spouses, partners, children and parents. Take control of what you want for yourself and help others address the myriad issues that face all of us in times of crisis. The workshop will be an extended conversation with trained facilitators as well as outside speakers who will converse holistically on key legal, medical and spiritual issues. The objective is to provide participants with compelling reasons to prepare an end of life plan and prepare them to deal with both the rational and emotional elements of such a plan.

Facilitators and experts will guide you through
• Considering common end of life medical dilemmas and options for resolution
• Developing a plan for the seamless transition of financial matters
• Structuring difficult conversations with loved ones

Dates and Information

The Gift of Time is offered in-person at the Reuter Center and typically meets from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for five weeks. The summer 2025 Gift of Time will meet the following dates:

• Wednesday, August 6, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 13, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 20, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 27, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, September 3, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Cost & Registration

Costs

The fee for the summer 2025 Gift of Time program is $175 per person. Program fee includes a 2025-2026 OLLI annual membership, program materials and administration.

Refunds

Refunds will be issued for the program fee, less $25/person administrative charges for cancellations made by 5 p.m. at least 10 days prior to the program start date. For cancellations made after 5 p.m. less than 10 days prior to the program start date, no refunds will be issued. Email olli@unca.edu to request cancellation and refund.

Registration and Payment

Please read these instructions for using the online registration system prior to registering. 

Step 1: Create an account

You will need to create an OLLI account in order to register. Access the login page by clicking here. There is no fee to create an account. If you have been an OLLI at UNC Asheville member at any time since 2015, you have a username and password (write them down for future reference). Reset your password if you cannot remember it.

Step 2: Sign in

ADD TO CART buttons will not show up unless you are signed in.

• Click SIGN IN.
• If you have entered everything correctly, in the blue navigation banner under the long photo of OLLI members at the top of the screen it will say: “Welcome [Your Name].”

Step 3: Add The Gift of Time  to your cart

• Click here to directly access the registration page for the Gift of Time.
• Click ADD TO CART

         OR

• Click HOME on the far right of the blue navigation banner.
• Click LIFE TRANSITIONS on the right of the top row of options.
• Scroll down to the Gift of Time.
• Click ADD TO CART.

Step 4: Purchase items in your cart

• Click VIEW CART.
• Click CHECK OUT.
• Choose your payment method
  • If you are using a credit card, be sure that your name and billing address exactly match the information on file with your credit card provider. If there is an error processing your payment, the system will not allow further attempts to provide credit card information. Email us so that we can reset your order and provide instructions; then you can proceed with a credit card payment.

If you do not receive a confirmation screen that you have registered after entering your credit card or if you encounter other issues with payment, call us; your registration status will be pending until we arrange payment.

Space is limited, and this program usually fills up quickly. Registration will remain open until all spots are filled. An option to join the waitlist will become available should the program reach capacity.
