OLLI Authors

OLLI Authors is a quarterly reading featuring two poets or prose authors. The purpose of OLLI Authors is to provide a forum for OLLI member and community writers to showcase their creative efforts. It’s also an opportunity for OLLI and community members to hear, appreciate and purchase readers’ published work.  Readings are usually in January, April, June and October.

If you are interested in being a reader at a future program please let us know by contacting nelsonsartoris@charter.net or wbswarts3@me.com. Reader selection will be made by a three-person committee consisting of the program coordinators, William Swarts, Nelson Sartoris, and Karen Depew, the coordinator of the OLLI Poetry SIG. Priority for reader selection will be:

  1. OLLI members with a published book
  2. OLLI members published in journals and magazines
  3. OLLI members wishing to share their unpublished works
  4. Asheville area community members who are published authors

Publicity of these quarterly events will be in the OLLI Observer weekly newsletter, the OLLI Facebook post, and posters on the Reuter Center bulletin boards.

In addition to the quarterly readings, OLLI Authors has compiled a list of publications by OLLI members during their time in the OLLI community.  If you have a work that you would like included in this list, contact Nelson Sartoris, nelsonsartoris@charter.net   Click here to view the current list of OLLI Authors publications, compiled as of March 2024.
